Chapter 6

Chapter 6 – Tensions Rise

Kiara’s POV

Mornings were supposed to bring new beginnings, but for me, they only brought dread. As I stepped onto the college campus, my fingers clutched the hem of my short kurti, an anxious habit I had picked up. I had barely slept after yesterday’s encounter with Aryan. His cold stare, his mocking smirk—it had replayed in my head all night, making my stomach churn with nervousness.

“Kiara!”

I turned to see Riya rushing toward me, her expression mirroring my own unease. She wasn’t just worried about me—she had her own battles with Ayaan.

“Did you even sleep?” she asked, breathless.

I sighed. “Not really. Just… worried about today.”

Riya gave me a sympathetic look before linking her arm with mine. “We’ll get through this together.”

I wanted to believe her, but as we entered the corridor, an unsettling hush spread through the crowd. My heart pounded as I recognized the reason.

The Untouchables had arrived.

Aryan. Ayaan. Kabir. Ananya. They walked in sync, their presence commanding attention like royalty entering their court. Students instinctively stepped aside, whispers breaking out as if they were witnessing something divine—or dangerous.

I didn’t dare look at Aryan, but I could feel his gaze pierce through me.

And then came the voice I dreaded the most.

“Well, well. If it isn’t the girl who doesn’t know her place,” Natasha drawled as she stepped in front of me, her arms crossed, lips curled in amusement. Her two minions flanked her, giggling as if I were some joke only they understood.

I stiffened. “I—”

“Oh, don’t pretend you’re innocent,” she cut me off, flipping her perfectly styled hair. “You humiliated Aryan in front of everyone yesterday. Shouldn’t you be apologizing?”

Apologizing? For what? For accidentally bumping into her and her friends yesterday? Or was this just an excuse for them to make my life miserable?

I opened my mouth, but before I could defend myself, Natasha turned to Aryan, her voice dripping with fake sweetness.

“You should teach her a lesson.”

The air around us grew heavier. My breath hitched as Aryan took a slow step toward me.

The amusement in his eyes was gone. Now, only a cold, calculated look remained.

“You think you can cross my path and walk away unscathed, Kiara?” His voice was dangerously low, sending chills down my spine.

I took a step back instinctively, my back pressing against the locker. My pulse was racing.

“Aryan, come on. She already looks like she’s about to cry,” Kabir chuckled lazily from the side, his tone light but his eyes sharp. “What’s the fun in scaring someone so weak?”

Laughter erupted around me, burning my skin with humiliation. I clenched my fists, forcing my tears down.

Weak.

I hated that word.

But what could I do? If I fought back, I would only make things worse.

Riya’s hand found mine, squeezing it in silent support. But she was shaking too. We both knew there was no winning against them.

“Enough, let’s go,” Ananya said, rolling her eyes. “This is boring now.”

Aryan’s gaze lingered on me for a moment before he smirked. “Consider this a warning.”

With that, he turned and walked away, the others following suit.

The moment they were gone, my legs nearly gave out.

“Kiara—”

“I’m fine,” I said quickly, swallowing the lump in my throat. But I wasn’t.

Because this was only the beginning.

Ayaan’s POV

Leaning against the railing on the upper floor, I watched the scene unfold with mild amusement. Aryan had his fun, making Kiara squirm, while Natasha practically threw herself at him. Typical.

But my attention wasn’t on them.

It was on her

Riya.

She stood beside Kiara, trying to look brave, but the tremble in her hands gave her away.

She was scared.

I didn’t know why that annoyed me so much. Wasn’t that the point? Wasn’t this how things worked? We ruled the campus. People feared us.

But something about the way she looked at me—like I was more than just some untouchable figure, like I mattered—bothered me.

“Ayaan, baby.”

Tanya’s voice pulled me back to reality as she slipped her arm through mine.

I sighed. “What?”

She pouted. “You’ve been distracted. Let’s go to the café, hmm?”

I didn’t argue. It wasn’t worth the trouble.

But as I walked away, I felt it again—Riya’s eyes on me.

And for some damn reason, I couldn’t shake the feeling that maybe, just maybe, I didn’t want to.

This chapter adds slow-burn tension, Aryan’s cruelty, Natasha’s manipulation, and Ayaan’s growing conflict regarding Riya.
