Chapter 5

The sun hung high in the sky, casting warm golden rays over the college campus. The bustling corridors were filled with students rushing to their next class, but amidst the chatter and hurried footsteps, there was an air of tension. Kiara and Riya walked cautiously, their heads down, avoiding unnecessary attention. The fear from their past encounters with Aryan and his group still clung to them like an unwanted shadow.

---
**Kiara & Aryan**

Kiara clutched her books tightly to her chest as she navigated through the hallway. Her body stiffened when she noticed Aryan leaning casually against a locker, surrounded by his usual group—Kabir, Ayaan, and Ananya. His sharp, dark eyes landed on her, and a smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.

Kiara swallowed hard. Just ignore him. Walk past quickly.

"Well, well, if it isn’t our little troublemaker?" Aryan's voice rang out, stopping Kiara in her tracks.

She turned slightly, her heart hammering against her ribs. "I... I have class," she stammered, attempting to take a step forward, but Aryan was quicker. He blocked her path effortlessly, his towering frame intimidating her.

"And I have questions," he said, crossing his arms over his chest. "You still owe me an apology, Kiara. Or do you like testing my patience?"

Kiara’s fingers trembled around her books. "I—I didn’t mean to—"

"You didn’t mean to?" Natasha suddenly joined in, her voice dripping with fake sympathy. "That’s what all clumsy girls say when they mess up, isn’t it? Aryan, she doesn’t even look sorry."

Kiara’s lips parted to protest, but Aryan only raised an eyebrow. "Looks like you need another lesson on how things work around here."

Before she could react, he leaned in close. "From now on, whenever you see me, you stop and acknowledge me properly. Got it? No more ignoring me."

Kiara’s pulse raced. She could feel the amused gazes of the entire group, waiting for her response.

"Y-Yes," she whispered, feeling the weight of humiliation pressing down on her.

Aryan chuckled darkly, patting her cheek lightly before stepping back. "Good girl. Now run along."

Kiara turned on her heel and hurried away, her heart pounding. The moment she was out of their sight, she let out a shaky breath, her hands tightening into fists. She hated the way Aryan made her feel—weak, helpless.

---
**Riya & Ayaan**

Riya sat in the library, flipping through the pages of her notebook absentmindedly. She had managed to escape Ayaan's wrath for the day, but the fear of running into him again loomed over her.

Just as she let out a sigh of relief, a chair scraped against the floor beside her. She looked up and froze. Ayaan was sitting there, one arm resting on the table, his eyes scanning her notes with mild disinterest.

"You look nervous," he remarked, tilting his head slightly.

Riya quickly shook her head. "N-No, I was just—"

"Lying," he cut her off, his voice sharp. "You don’t have to act like a scared rabbit every time I show up. It’s annoying."

Riya’s fingers curled around her pen. "I’m not scared of you," she mumbled.

Ayaan let out a short laugh, leaning in closer. "That’s funny, because you look like you might pass out any second."

Riya bit her lip, trying to focus on her notebook, but his presence was suffocating. He always had this way of making her feel small, insignificant.

"Listen," Ayaan continued, his tone dropping slightly. "I don’t like unnecessary drama, and I certainly don’t like being stared at like some kind of monster. If you have something to say, say it. Otherwise, stop looking at me like that."

Riya hesitated, her mind racing. She wanted to tell him—tell him how she felt, how much she admired him despite his cruel demeanor. But she knew the truth. He wasn’t interested in her. He had Tanya.

"I won’t bother you," she finally whispered.

Ayaan studied her for a moment before smirking. "Good. Keep it that way."

And just like that, he stood up and walked away, leaving Riya feeling more defeated than ever.

---

The day dragged on, but for Kiara and Riya, the weight of their interactions with Aryan and Ayaan lingered heavily. They were trapped in a game they didn’t understand, forced to play by rules they never agreed to.

But one thing was clear—this was just the beginning.
